(၄) အတုိက္အခုိက္ရပ္စဲေစျခင္း အာသနဂုဏ္


(4). The virtue of āsana -- skill in defensive warfare

This gāthā should be remembered in connection with the āsanaguna:
That is to say: To ask for an armistice when mutual fighting has become too burdensome is the viggahya form of the āsanaguna.

အာသနဂုဏ္သည္လည္း အခ်င္းခ်င္းတုိက္ခုိက္၍ပင္ပန္းေသာေၾကာင့္ ရပ္ဆုိင္းနားေနျခင္းဟူေသာ ၀ိဂၢယွ အာသနဂုဏ္။


Put differently, when one has attacked and enveloped the enemy; to desist further is the form of the āsanaguna that is called viggahya.

တစ္နည္းကား။ ။ ရန္သူကုိ တုိက္ခုိက္သိမ္းယူၿပီး နားေနျခင္းဟူေသာ ၀ိဂၢယွအာသနဂုဏ္။

Or differently again, when one is unable to sustain the enemy attack, to retreat into fortifications and hold him there is also the viggahya form of the āsanaguna.

တစ္နည္းကား။ ။ရန္သူမယူနုိင္ေအာင္ ခံၿမိဳ႕၌၀င္၍ ခုခံျခင္းဟူေသာ ၀ိဂၢယွ အာသနဂုဏ္။

When the strength of both sides is exhausted from their mutual attacks and they can fight no further, to discuss and arrange an agreement is the sandhæya form of the āsanaguna.

ႏွစ္ဦးႏွစ္ဖက္တုိက္ခုိက္ၾကသျဖင့္ အားခြန္ကုန္ခန္း၍ ဆက္လက္မတုိက္ နုိင္ေသာေၾကာင့္ အေစ့အစပ္ေျပာဆုိ မိတ္ဖြဲ႔ကာ ေနျခင္းဟူေသာ သႏၶာယ အာသနဂုဏ္။

King Udāsiñga formed an association of all his allied kings which stood so that no single enemy could break it; this was the sambhūya form of the āsanaguna.

ဥဒါသိန္မင္း၊ မိတ္မင္းတုိ႔ႏွင့္ တေပါင္းတည္းျပဳ၍ တစ္ပါးရန္သူတုိ႔ မဖ်က္ မဆီးနုိင္ေအာင္ေနျခင္းဟူေသာ သမၻဴယအာသနဂုဏ္။

Next, a king who goes to war against one country and remains at peace in alliance with another is an example of the pasañga form of the āsanaguna.

တစ္ခုေသာနုိင္ငံကုိစစ္ခ်ီတက္ေသာမင္းသည္တစ္ခုေသာနုိင္ငံႏွင့္ေပါင္းဆုံ၍ေနျခင္းဟူေသာပသဂၤအာသန ဂုဏ္။

One who goes out intending to attack his enemy, but finds the enemy too strong for him and so retreats without fighting and stays so, is an example of the upekkhiya form of the āsanaguna.

ရန္သူကုိတုိက္မည္ဟုခ်ီတက္ရာ ရန္သူကအားႀကီးေသာေၾကာင့္ မတုိက္ ဘဲေရွာင္ၾကဉ္၍ေနျခင္းဟူေသာ ဥေပကၡိယအာသနဂုဏ္။

Thus those that have studied the āsanaguna say that it has five different forms.

ဤသုိ႔အာသနဂုဏ္၌ တတ္သိနားလည္ကုန္ေသာပညာရွိတုိ႔သည္ အာသနဂုဏ္ကုိ ငါးပါးအျပားရွိ၏ သမုတ္အပ္ ေသာ ဂါထာကုိလည္း မွတ္သားအပ္သတည္း။
